so fucking horny

Gus Van Sant is a master of cinematic eroticism. I think he should move away from slow-moving, artsy mood pieces featuring intersecting timelines and mimimal dialogue, and into hardcore porn. Man-on-man, obviously. That moment in Elephant, just before the boys go in to shoot up the school, where they kiss in the shower - i thought it fantastic. The change in register was so unexpected, so incongruous, and genuinely arousing for all of that. Likewise with his new movie, Last Days, the one based on Kurt Cobain life or, rather, the last days of his life. There's a scene in it where one of the bandmates asks another bandmate to come upstairs with him to talk about something and they're standing there talking about whatever mundane thing while one of the guys takes his top off. Then his trousers, and then he's taking the other guy's top off, and you're not sure what's going on at first, it's like they're changing clothes or something, but then one guy is kneeling over the other guy on the bed, both of em in their knickers, and they're snogging. Completely outta the blue. But so fucking horny. It helps, i suppose, that both men are handsome and masculine, with just a touch of geek chic about them. You don't see anything beyond that but... i think the things left to the imagination are often the most exciting.

Apart from that, the rest of the movie was somewhat tiresome, and dreadfully slow moving. But interesting, nonetheless. The motif of bending down on one's knee, and the trees/leaves motif made for stimulating, if not somewhat frustrating, viewing.


In other news, i had a celebrity on tour the other day: Anthony Worrall Thompson!

'Who?!' i hear you ask. You may remember AWT from such television cookery programmes as, er, Cooking with Anthony Worrall Thompson (i forget the name of it). But he also has a range of books out recently where he extolled the virtues of the GI Diet, and accompanied his extolling with handy recipes. He listened to my tour with interest, but was dismissive when asked, by me, if he was a tv chef. Truly, i lead the most exciting of lives. Here's a picture of him sitting in his garden:
