Why talk about myself when the news is so much more interesting? [Jul. 23rd, 2008|12:00 am]

Wanna read about why the law's an ass? Do so here in this interesting article about South Dakota abortion legislation.

Speaking of laws that need changing, Civil Partnership continues to draw moronic comment from the slack-jawed among us, thus pissing off various people in the process. (Forgive the spelling errors - they're the IT's, not the author's own).

On an unrelated topic, did you know: the President of the United States can pre-emptively pardon people for crimes they have not yet been prosecuted or indicted for?

But, can the President pardon himself i hear you ask? Could Nixon have pardoned himself for Watergate, thus saving Ford a nasty controversy? Or could Clinton have done so over Zippergate, despite his avowals that he wouldn't? Who knows.

Here's an (appalling) article about a bunch of cunts who should never be pardoned, but who nonetheless look likely to get off scot-free.

Speaking of appalling cunts, that crazy whorefaced bitch Iris Robinson is back spewing ignorant, hatemongering vitriol about gays, as is her wont. The fucking cunt.

Appalling in a wholly different way, just what is Princess Anne *doing* reprising this outfit from her 1980s wardrobe!?

Oh and if you're still appalled by the Lisbon treaty vote, then here's an excellent reason why the vote never should have been held in the first place, along with some long overdue sensible advice on where it should go from here.

And finally, it's not all appalling - since when have funerals been so hilarious?

No, they can't pardon themselves. Presidents have pardoned people since, gosh, forever. Patty Hearst was pardoned by Clinton.

Criminals are pardoned all the time, usually because of financial contributions, or as favors to other contributors who have done business with said criminals who wish to have the President do them a favor as payback for financially supporting them. Bush II is going to have to grant a lot of pardons. I'm sure he's been making a list, checking twice, for the last four years.

Over here in the States, we have the yokels blaming the housing collapse on gay marriage.

Fetuses should be issued social security cards, birth certificates, and on display in funeral homes for people to pay their respects. Some states mandate that the father of the fetus be notified, along written consent by the father before the woman is allowed to abort. I wonder how many women ask for the telephone number of their rapists during or straight after the perp is done attacking them. The incestuous father being phoned would be such a hoot.

Places like Alabama, South Carolina, etc, have a ban on sex toys for Christ's sake!

Iris is a self-loathing les, who needs to be kicked in the twat. I read about her days ago. The government sided with her stupid ass.

All these people need to get fucked already! Perhaps they wouldn't be so uptight.

I know you're in Ireland, Owen, but perhaps you have some insight -- how are the Brits handling the thought of another Tory government? New Labour was Conservative-lite in my opinion anyway.

We had images bombarding our screens of Obama shaking hands with Cameron.
